The Love Month is Back Again! The Perfect Time to...?

Since February is known for being labeled the month of love, excitement is in the air as many couples pledge their vows of engagement, while others tie the knot on their special day.  It is an uplifting time of year for us all, as it helps us bid farewell to the cold wintry season and heartily welcome the early flowers that choose to poke their heads above the ice-cold ground soon to thaw.

Q:  So, what tips do we have for your February wedding flowers?

A:  If you choose to get married between February 5th and the 18th, expect prices to be between 10% and double in cost.  If you are insistent on fresh flowers, it may be wise to consider this one of your bigger expenses and allow extra dollars.  This is caused by having a floral holiday in the middle of winter. The costs and risks associated with bringing in the Valentine's day crop are high.  Also, shifting production towards such a small time window creates 'holes' on both sides of the holiday leading to higher prices because of lack of supply.  If you still choose to marry within this window, it is imperative to let your floral artist know well in advance, as selling out is a guarantee.

If you plan after February 18th, by choosing what's in season, you may save yourself a BUNDLE, and you're sure to warm the hearts of all your guests, leaving the deep impression of early spring.

John Gardner from Aria Style  in Seattle, Washington suggests a couple of money-saving combinations:

  • yellow tulips, white freesia, and purple ranunculus
  • purple mini-callas, hot pink roses, and immature green hydrangea
